I’ve been back in NYC for 2 days, and so am a bit remiss on the blog update. But lord–am I tired! DC was wonderful–the reading went well, the radio too (my favorite a woman’s “empowerment” program that had “confidence” as the theme of the week; I had three seconds to figure out how my novel spoke to Confidence before going live across Illinois), and I even had my first TV appearance since kindergarten, when, along with the rest of my P.S. 114 class, I was a guest on Romper Room. I’m working on getting a download for the cable clip; meantime you can watch me on Let’s Talk Live, a local DC cable show, here.
Came back on Friday evening, managing to wind my way through the rush hour crush of the Penn Station and Atlantic Avenue subway stops — it’s been a few years, enough that the crowds do basically awe me, but I found my way all right. Yesterday I finally read in an actual bookstore– the fabulous McNally Jackson, which has, for those who don’t know, a proud Canadian lineage. Tonight I’m looking forward to appearing at Freebird Books.
But meantime….they’re calling for snow. A storm. A nor’easter. Nothing gets my mother more stressed than a snow-flight combination, and nothing gets me more stressed than my mother’s stress regarding my own travels. So…am trying to remain confident that Eva and I really will take-off on time tomorrow. We both miss Jordan & Tillie very much, and are aching to get back home. Back to work, too: packed in my bag is a lovely teal-colored newborn stethescope–my old gray one broke, plus this coordinates so much better with my pale blue adult stethescope. The babes will love it. Getting ready for the final reading, then, and the return to that breathtakingly beautiful island way out west.
Snow snow go away, come again some other day….
